About Dr. Abkin
Comprehensive care in a bariatric-friendly setting is the foundation of Advanced Laparoscopic Surgeons of Morris. Board-certified general surgeons Drs. Abkin and Bertha are dedicated to minimally invasive weight loss surgery and medical weight loss management. With partner Dr. Vincent Iannace, their practice philosophy is that bariatric surgery is a highly successful way to resolve diabetes and other medical prob- lems in morbidly obese patients.
Through regional affiliations, the doctors provide exceptional care throughout New Jersey. They also offer an on-site state-of-the-art surgery center and radiologic band adjustment center. A full spectrum of options includes gastric bypass, adjustable gastric band and sleeve gastrec- tomy. Using the laparoscopic approach, these physicians help patients return to a better quality of life faster and with less discomfort. They also perform single-incision laparoscopic bariatric surgery, featuring one small incision in the abdominal wall and offering patients less scarring and minimal downtime.
The practice is recognized as a Center of Excellence by the American College of Surgeons and the Surgical Review Corporation for the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. Both doctors are co-directors of bariatric care at Saint Clare’s Hospital. In addition, Dr. Abkin is medical director of bariatric care at JFK Medical Center, and Dr. Bertha is medical director of bariatric care at Saint Peter’s University Hospital.
