Name: Jack
Breed: Beagle/Border Collie Mix
Owner: The Carey Family, Locust
“When we decided to add a puppy to our family we turned to Petfinder.com. After weeks of applying for puppies on a “first-come, first-served basis,” we were unsuccessful and disappointed.

One Friday before leaving for my job, I was on the computer extra early at 5:30 am. I spotted (no pun intended) this fine fellow on the new adoption list. We applied and were lucky enough to have our application be the first of an overwhelming number of responses received for this unique puppy.
After e-mailing the foster home, we drove over two and a half hours to meet our new family member. It was a perfect match. We named him Jack because his white earring and eye patch reminded of us a pirate. And what more colorful pirate than Jack Sparrow? Jack is originally from Kentucky, but he has settled in nicely to beautiful New Jersey.”

This week everything seems to be “super” to me, from Jersey’s own Super Bowl champion Giants (hooray!) to a category of wine called Super Tuscans.
For the past year I’d heard rumblings that it might happen, but earlier this week the state's plans were revealed—Rutgers-Camden is going to become part of Rowan University.
