Sixteen months after a tragic car accident on the New Jersey Turnpike, Tracy Morgan is returning to the stand-up circuit next year for a tour that will make three stops in the Garden State. Tickets for the aptly named tour, “Tracy Morgan: Picking Up the Pieces,” go on sale starting October 22.
Morgan will appear in February at Harrah’s Resort in Atlantic City, and make stops at the Bergen Performing Arts Center and the State Theatre in April.
Morgan hosted Saturday Night Live on October 17, telling fans, “I’m back! It feels so good to be here.” Morgan was greeted with a standing ovation when he walked onstage, his first extended television appearance since a fatal car crash on June 7, 2014.
Many feared the worst for the beloved local comedian, who was critically injured last summer when a speeding Walmart tractor-trailer rear-ended Morgan’s limousine bus on the New Jersey Turnpike, causing the bus to flip over several times. Passengers Ardley Fuqua and Jeffrey Millea were also injured, while Morgan’s friend and fellow comedian James McNair, 62, was killed in the crash. Six cars were involved in the major accident, which left Morgan with a broken leg, broken femur, broken nose and several broken ribs.
After fourteen months of intensive physical therapy, Morgan and his longtime fiancée Megan Wollover wed on August 23 at the Ashford Estate in Allentown. The SNL episode included a warm welcome from Morgan’s 30 Rock former cast members Tina Fey, Alec Baldwin, Jane Krakowski and Jack McBrayer—and a memorable re-creation of the recent Democratic debate featuring Larry David as Bernie Sanders.
