An Evening with Pat LaFrieda: Butchery Demo, Dinner and Book Signing

Top restaurant meat purveyor discusses quality, sourcing and dry aging process on Thursday, July 23.

Meat lovers alert! A butchery demo, dinner and book signing will be featured on July 23 with Pat LaFrieda, at the Heirloom Kitchen, 3853 Rt 516, Old Bridge. Pat LaFrieda Meat Purveyors, located in North Bergen, are known for their quality meats, sold to restaurants around the country. La Frieda will discuss animal butchery, processing, where his company sources beef and information on their dry-aging rooms. LOVIN’ OVEN FARM-TO-TABLE DINNERS

On the third Wednesday of each month through October (July 15, August 19, September 16 and October 21), Lovin’ Oven, 62A Trenton Avenue (Rt 29), Frenchtown, will present a farm-to-table dinner featuring produce, meats, cheese, honey and herbs from local farms. 5 to 9 PM; a la carte or four courses for $50; BYO. Through July 31, Rosa Mexicano, Riverside Square, 390 Hackensack Avenue, Hackensack, will feature an ice cream festival, featuring flavors of Mexico, including warm apple empanadas with spiced Mexican-chocolate sauce topped with vanilla-chocolate mole swirl ice cream; deep-fried, sweet corn-caramel and Mexican chocolate ice cream coated in cinnamon buñuelo crust served with churros and dipping sauce; and guacamole sundae made with avocado ice cream in a frozen molcajete with raspberries, white chocolate shavings, coconut crunch, mint, piloncillo-chocolate sauce and cinnamon-sugar buñuelos. BARBECUE CHAMPIONSHIP

Ribs, chicken, brisket and pork will be featured at the annual State Barbecue Championship and Anglesea Blues Festival to benefit the Anglesea Volunteer Fire Company. Hosted by the Wildwoods, this event will take place at Second and Olde New Jersey Avenues, North Wildwood, with live cooking demonstrations, special displays, and much, much more.
