The building that houses Elements had prevously been the auto repair bays of a filling station on Bayard Lane. Elements won immediate critical praise for its architecturally striking physical transformation under co-owner Stephen Distler and for the cutting edge cuisine of chef/co-owner Scott Anderson.
The present Elements building is being sold and will be converted to an office building, we are told.
In early 2015, the co-owners plan to reopen Elements in the building at the corner of Witherspoon and Hulfish Streets in the center of town that presently houses Mistral, the cutting-edge small plates restaurant also owned by Anderson and Distler.
We previously reported that Distler and Anderson have slowly been emptying the two-story building of its tenants, the last to leave being the UPS store.
When both Mistral and Elements occupy the building, they will be able to share the liquor license previously attached to Elements at its Bayard Lane address.
Mistral will stay open while the space is being redesigned to incorporate Elements. After the reopening, Mistral customers will still be able to bring wine and beer without paying a corkage fee, we are told.
