Grow your cooking skills at a plant-based culinary program in Princeton.

Learn how to prepare whole grains, vegetables, beans, and plant-based proteins, plus master knife skills, cooking techniques, artistic food plating, creative garnishing and much more at A Plant-Based Culinary Program in Princeton.

The classes will take place on Saturdays from April 11 to June 13, at the Terra Momo Learning Kitchen located at the Princeton YMCA, 59 Paul Robeson Place, Princeton, from 10 AM to 4 PM; $2,200 for 8 classes. Included in the cost are: the hands-on cooking classes, cooking tools, food samples, an apron featuring the NKCS logo, a copy of the Natural Vegan Kitchen cookbook, all recipes, menus and extensive curriculum materials. The following classes are scheduled: April 11 & 18, Glorious Grains; April 25 & May 2, Vegetables from the Land and Sea; May 16 & 30, The World of Beans & Plant Based Proteins; and on June 6 & 13, Kitchen Pharmacy & Festive Food. SCOTCHES & WATCHES @ THE BERNARDS INN, BERNARDSVILLE

The Bernards Inn, 27 Mine Brook Road, Bernardsville and Diamond Dream Fine Jewelers will host an evening of pairing six celebrated premium Scotches with luxurious timepieces. Light hors d’oeuvres will be served. The evening will include Master of Whisky Kevin Loser of Fedway Associates taking guests through the flight of Scotch whiskies and Edward Shapiro, owner of Diamond Dream, exhibiting iconic timepieces and sharing more about these wearable works of art. 6:30 PM; $80 plus tax and gratuity. WALK AROUND THE WORLD WINE TASTING

Taste your way around the globe at the Spring Walk Around the World Wine Tasting at the Bernards Inn, 27 Mine Brook Road, Bernardsville. 6:30 to 8:30 PM; $55 includes a $20 credit towards the purchase of wine, hors d’oeuvres and samplings of over 100 wines. Reservations: 908-766-0002.

 

SATURDAY APRIL 11

CHILI COOK-OFF AND BEER GARDEN

Vote for your favorite to win the People’s Choice award at the Chile Cook-Off contest at the Women’s Club of Montclair, 82 Union Street, Montclair, to benefit the Montclair Fund For Educational Excellence (MFEE). Join me, Andrew Zimmer (Thrillist editor), Karen Schloss Diaz, (Montclair Times food columnist) and Melody Kettle (Montclair Food and Wine Festival, co-founder) as we determine who will take home top honors. Along with the chile tasting, which may include anything from mild to three-alarm chilies classified under meat, poultry, vegetarian, global and Montclair Madness (chef’s choice), there will also be a beer garden for when you get thirsty. 7 PM; $35 includes a commemorative bandana. CHEF’S COUNTER TASTING AT ANTHONY DAVID’S, HOBOKEN

Anthony Pino chef/owner of Anthony David’s at 953 Bloomfield Street, Hoboken, and chef de cuisine Justin Antiorio, will create a Chef’s Counter Tastings (there are 10 seats) featuring the cuisine of Umbria. TUESDAY, APRIL 14

COOKING FOR KIDS

Fifty area chefs, restaurants and beverage purveyors will be in attendance at the A Cooking For Kids event at Westmount Country Club, Woodland Park, to benefit St Joseph’s Children’s Hospital. VIP reception 6 to 7 PM, $250; 6:30 to 9:30 PM, $195. For tickets, visit their website.
