Jan 1–Feb 3: The Guild of Creative Art, the oldest and largest art community in the state, kicks off its 50th year with an all-media juried art show. The “Edgy to Avant-Garde” exhibition features paintings, sculptures, and photographs deemed to be on the cutting edge of the unique, experimental, strange, or humorous. Opening reception: Jan 10, 3–5 pm. Gallery hours: Mon–Fri, 8 am–4:30 pm; Thurs, 8 am–7 pm; Sat, 10 am–4:30 pm; free. 620 Broad St, Shrewsbury (732-742-1441; guildofcreativeart.org).
