Flying Pies

August 1:
Georgia is not the only state known for its peaches. We’ve been growing the fuzzy fruit since the 1600s, and the Community Presbyterian Church of Chester’s annual Peach Festival shows all kinds of delectables you can whip up. The festival uses more than 16,000 peaches to create treats from peach cobbler, pies, and ice cream to jams, jellies, and preserves.

Get them while you can; we hear the pies fly out the door at a rate of five per minute. Stop by the church’s white-elephant sale and special children’s boutique as well. 10 am–4 pm; free. 220 Main St, Chester. (908-879-5091; cpcchester.org/peach)
