May 12: The New Jersey Governor’s Conference for Women invites women from all walks of life to the Atlantic City Convention Center to learn how to “shape the future,” which is this year’s theme.

The educational and social networking event features renowned poet Maya Angelou and ABC News political commentator Cokie Roberts as keynote speakers, as well as a women’s health fair and special panels on surviving the economic crisis, leadership, and personal finance. $75–$150; 7:15 am–3:45 pm. 1 Miss America Way, Atlantic City (609-278-7403; njwomensconference.com).
