Liberty Rocks

July 31–Aug 2:  About 79,000 people attended last summer’s inaugural All Points West Music and Arts Festival. The three-day event, whose name is inspired by the signs that greeted immigrants at the Central Railroad of New Jersey, returns to the historic 80-acre Liberty State Park in Jersey City. Catch more than 65 artists on three stages while enjoying panoramic harbor views of Lady Liberty, Ellis Island, and the Manhattan skyline.

The musical extravaganza features headliners Jay-Z on Friday, Tool on Saturday, and Coldplay on Sunday. Other notable acts throughout the weekend include Neko Case, the Black Keys, Arctic Monkeys, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, MGMT, the Ting Tings, Vampire Weekend, and New Brunswick-bred Gaslight Anthem. Thanks to fan feedback, this year concert-goers will enjoy larger beer gardens and improved NJ Transit and ferryboat service. A portion of the proceeds supports the Friends of Liberty State Park. Fri–Sun, Noon–11:30 pm; $89 for a single day, $199 for a three-day pass. Morris Pesin Dr, Jersey City. (apwfestival.com)
