Jan 28–31: As part of its 30th anniversary celebration this year, the Lula Washington Dance Theatre is making its debut at Montclair State University’s Alexander Kasser Theatre. The ten-member modern dance troupe, based in the South Central area of Los Angeles, is renowned for its accessible and innovative repertoire. Named for their main choreographer and artistic director, Lula Washington, the young, high-energy, athletic dancers perform theatrical and socially conscious works.

This performance includes the world premiere of www.Connecting.2010, which was inspired by the burgeoning culture of social networking in the 21st century. Thurs–Fri, 7:30 pm; Sat, 8 pm; Sun, 3 pm; $15. 1 Normal Ave, Montclair (973-655-5112; peakperfs.org).
