Not-So-Secret Garden
May 2, 10: With spring flowers in full bloom, come celebrate the beauty of the season (and Mom, of course) at Van Vleck House and Gardens. The 5.8-acre grounds are home to more than 400 varieties of flora, including rare azaleas and rhododendrons, and historic sweeping purple wisteria, which create a stunning yet tranquil backdrop for this month’s events.
The annual plant sale (Sat, May 2, 9 am–4 pm) features unique shrubs, vines, perennials, and trees, with experts on-site to answer all your gardening questions. The free Mother’s Day Concert (Sun, May 10, 2–3 pm) is a Montclair tradition, with live music and picnic snacks on the lawn for the whole family to enjoy. 21 Van Vleck St, Montclair (973-744-4752; vanvleck.org).
