The World on a String
Oct. 5: Hailed as “America’s ambassadors of all things string,” Abigail Washburn and the Sparrow Quartet—which includes legendary banjo player Béla Fleck, violinist Casey Driessen, and cellist Ben Sollee—brings east and west together by blending Appalachian bluegrass and Chinese folk music.
The result is a bluesy banjo-plucking, jazzy, yet classical sound that reflects the life of vocalist and clawhammer banjo player Washburn, who grew up in the Midwest, spent time living in China, and settled in Nashville.
