Fifth Annual Sandy Paws 5K Race and one-Mile Pooch Walk
August 26
A benefit for the Stone Harbor Volunteer Fire Company and the Animal Alliance of Cape May County. The 5K is for runners and walkers only; the Pooch Walk is for dogs and walkers and takes place on the beach. Awards will be presented in both events. The 5K will start at 8 am, the Pooch Walk at 8:05. Pre-registration is suggested. (stoneharborfire.com)

Junior Clamshell Pitching Tournament
August 31
To join in the fun, all you have to do is show up at 11 am at Cape May’s Windsor Beach, across from Congress Hall. The tournament is free; shells and instruction will be provided. (609-884-9565)

Wildwood Block Party & Music Festival
September 2
Celebrate the close of Wildwood’s Centennial Summer with food, crafts, games and more. The party will continue after sunset on the amphitheater stage with live entertainment featuring 1950s teen idol Bobby Rydell and other performers. Fox Park on Ocean and Montgomery avenues, across from the Wildwood Convention Center. Admission is free. (609-522-2444)

Mayor’s Labor Day Race
September 3
Mark the end of beach season at Ocean City with this traditional Labor Day race. Participants can choose the scenic 5-mile southern route or the mile-long run/walk northern course, both along 23rd Street Beach. The 22nd annual event, expected to draw close to 300 runners, will help fund recreational scholarships. (609-525-9317; ocnj.us)

Roar to the Shore
September 6-9
Upwards of 125,000 bikers and their families from as far away as California and Canada are expected to converge on Wildwood for the annual motorcycle roar. Events will include demos, a tattoo show held in the Convention Center, the annual Biker Babe Contest, Walking Poker Run with a $1,000 cash prize to the winning hand, and the sixth annual Rubber Duck Boardwalk Ride and Motorcycle Giveaway.
