The newest trend for showing off your baby to the world? Broadcasting it on a billboard over Route 1.

Sharing images of your newborn on social media is so 2014. The latest digital platform for broadcasting pics of your growing family is actually offline, in full view of a busy highway.

Saint Peter’s University Hospital in New Brunswick lets parents post baby photos on a digital billboard on Route 1, one of the most trafficked roadways in the country. The billboard is on the southbound side of Route 1, about a half-mile past Alexander Road in West Windsor.

The digital billboard updates weekly to showcase new babies born at Saint Peter’s, which delivers and cares for about 6,000 infants each year, more than any other hospital in central New Jersey.

The Saint Peter’s Delivers! app helps parents share their baby with the world through a four-step process, starting with a photo release consent form and ending with an upload of the newborn.

Garwood mom Lisa Oberoi learned about the app through her baby photographer’s Facebook page. “Everyone loves showing off their baby,” says Oberoi, who used the app to upload a photo of her fifth child, Zoey, who was born at the hospital on January 6, 2014.

Lisa Dempsey of South Plainfield also heard about the baby billboard through Facebook, and decided to share a portrait of her second child, Jack, a November 5, 2014, Saint Peter’s baby. “It’s like Disneyland over there compared to any other hospital,” she says.

On the billboard above, Jack models a green and white striped hat crocheted by his mom. “I actually just found out that the photo is up,” Dempsey says. “I’m driving out there to see it.”
