Our Favorite NJ Seafood Restaurants

Seafood is a given on virtually every restaurant menu, but some places pride themselves on providing a broad range of the very freshest catch. Here are some of our favorites, with a few words on what to expect. If none of these float your boat, there’s always sushi.

Bahrs was a great choice

I live in New york, and go often on the Ferry To Highlands. I went to Bahrs in 2010 because I read the Star ledger named Bahrs Crabcakes as the best in NJ, and so i tried it and they were delish, after that I have been many other times and tried a lot of different dishes and so far everything was good.
service good,great food,and awesome views.

really?? bahrs??

really ?? Bahrs made the list of best seasfood???? maybe back in the day it was good, but as of last summer, it was the absolute worst i have had on nj shore...
El Cid has some of the best seafood in bergen county... il Fornos in Newark is very good.. rooneys crab house in long branch is also quite good
I also find that bergen county/northern NJ are overlooked very frequently in all these NJ magazines..

How did Bahrs make it on the list? I’ve been there several times and I was always underwhelmed.

If Anjelica’s in Sea Bright isn’t on list of best seafood restaurants it isn’t a believable list. Check it out, ask around...Anjelica’s seafood dishes are off the charts!!!

Seafood Restaurants

What was your criteria for making your selection? Bahrs is terrible and Kleins is worst which makes this review untrustworthy.

I really like seeing Bahrs on this list. It is a fun place and a real seafood place. It is great to see a real traditional place on the list and the seafood it serves has a connection to the shore. If you ask, they’ll tell what is truly local.

Seafood comes in many styles, some is just seefood; it looks like seafood; but I am not sure what it means, other seafood is deeply part of our NJ culture.

At Bahrs you’ll be in the best of NJ, water, boat models biscuits, clams and oysters, chowder, clam boats, Jack Roses (Yes that is made with NJ’s own Lairds); it’s all there.

Good Eats on the Shore

We like to come here on the weekends. This is my favorite local seafood restaurant because they know how to cook seafood right. great lobster steamed or broiled. Clams and oyster and muscles anyway you want them. You never know what your going to see swimming in the river here. We have seen seal and dolphins. oh yeah if you have room after dinner they have a killer key lime pie.

Fin Raw Bar - Horrible Experience!

We walked out of Fin Raw Bar a few weeks ago.

The owner was incredibly rude and nasty to us. We have never experienced anything quite like it.

There are way too many good restaurants in the Montclair area to pay good money to be treated like trash.

What about Maywood Seafood Gourmet?

Not only is their fish the freshest around , their chef is fantastic. The BEST seafood pasta (in many varieties) ANYWHERE.
It might not be fancy, but we love going here especially for lunch, because you get the same portions as you would at dinner for almost 1/2 the price.

Spain Inn in Piscataway NJ best lobster

The Spain Inn in Piscataway has the best lobster in Middlesex County NJ. Twin stuffed lobster tails with crabmeat. Salivating. Their rice, potatoes and sangria go along well with the meal. Enjoy
