New Jersey Monthly: Editorial Intern Program

New Jersey Monthly has a unique editorial intern program designed to maximize the value for the intern and the magazine.

ABOUT THE PROGRAM:
At all times, New Jersey Monthly offers two fulltime, paid internships. The internships require a one-year commitment. This is an intensive program that provides immersion in the daily workings of New Jersey Monthly and its sister publication New Jersey Bride.

WHAT INTERNS DO:
The interns appear in our masthead as research assistants. They are considered part of the New Jersey Monthly editorial team and attend all staff meetings. Primary duties include fact checking, research, proofreading, some administrative tasks and occasional story assignments for print and online. Interns are paid an hourly wage.

WHO SHOULD APPLY:
The internships are intended for aspiring journalists who have received an undergraduate or graduate degree, generally in journalism, communication, English or some other relevant field.

WHEN TO APPLY:
The timing of the internships varies from year to year. Open internships generally are posted on MediaBistro. You can submit a letter of interest at any time to Managing Editor Deborah Carter.

WHAT WE DON’T DO:
We do not employ seasonal interns. We do not employ free interns. We do not hire undergraduates for our paid internships.
