Have you heard about Nameberry? It was created by Pamela Redmond Satran and Linda Rosenkrantz, co-authors of popular baby-naming books. The site includes an authoritative 50,000-name database, a daily blog, a store loaded with customized gifts, a baby registry and (of course) an active community of expectant parents and name lovers.
Pamela, New York Times bestselling author of seven novels and a columnist for Glamour, is one of our fave humorists, and her personality infuses Nameberry with a playful vibe.
Together, Pamela and Linda have written 10 books on names over the past 20 years, including the groundbreaking Beyond Jennifer & Jason, Cool Names for Babies, and The Baby Name Bible. They also contribute baby name articles to publications like Parents, The Daily Beast, Huffington Post and TODAYMoms, and have been interviewed by everyone from The New York Times to The Wall Street Journal to The Today Show, the BBC and Oprah.
No wonder the site gets two million monthly visitors and 10 million page views from every country around the world.
After spending just a few minutes on nameberry.com, I found adorable flower names for girls. My favorites are Bluebell, Ivy, Violet and Willow. And I discovered a list of athlete names for boys … Beckham, Brady and Peyton are all very nice … although I suspect that New Jersey sports fans will have their own list in this category.
The site even sports a custom-gift shop with monograms and engraved jewelry. (Check out the cute necklace I posted here.)
Nameberry is really a fun concept, and I wish Pamela and Linda continued success with it!
