Liz Hurley and Bloomie’s Go PINK!

Actress Elizabeth Hurley, the global spokesmodel for Estée Lauder's Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign, was pretty in pink as she sat down to dish with me one-on-one at Bloomingdale's in Short Hills.

Ardent fans know her as Queen Helena on the hit TV series, The Royals, and also as Vanessa Kensington in the iconic Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery. But you might not be aware that, for the last 20 years, Elizabeth Hurley has been traveling the world to help raise awareness of breast cancer and encourage funding for important research.

The global spokesmodel for Estée Lauder’s Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign has a lot on her plate this October, so I must thank Bloomingdale’s Short Hills store manager Nora Holley and PR manager Marlie Massena-Pattillo for inviting me in for some one-on-one dishing with Elizabeth.

“Bloomingdale’s is a phenomenal supporter of our cause and a fabulous partner. Last year alone, the company donated $1.3 million to help raise money for breast cancer research,” Liz told me. “This year, every action counts. I encourage everyone to visit BCAcampaign.com and tell us what they can do. It could be something as simple as having a mammogram or taking your friend’s kids to the park so she can be tested. In the U.S. alone, a women is diagnosed with breast cancer every two minutes…and the only thing standing in the way of a cure is funding.”

To help raise funds, Estée Lauder is offering shoppers this pretty little treat while supplies last: For each purchase of the Evelyn Lauder and Elizabeth Hurley Dream Pink Collection, Estée Lauder will donate 20% of the suggested retail price to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation. The chic pink foldover clutch holds Pure Color Long Lasting Lipstick in Limited Edition Dream Pink and Pure Color Nail Lacquer in Blushing Lilac and Berry Hot.

When Elizabeth showed me the Dream Pink Collection, she said, “Nowadays, cell phones are getting bigger and evening purses are getting smaller, aren’t they? So I especially love these smaller lipsticks that come as a gift with a purchase. They are the perfect traveling companions.”

When I complimented her gorgeous pink pumps, Liz admitted with her signature sultry laugh, “They’re Jimmy Choos, and I took them from the wardrobe department of The Royals.” She also wore a bright pink frock with lace overlay by Kalinka.

After lunch, in celebration of the store’s 11 years of commitment to breast cancer awareness, guests were invited to shop pink products throughout the store. For each qualifying purchase during the month of October, Bloomingdale’s will make a donation to help fund research. These special products include offerings from Estée Lauder as well as limited-edition T-shirts created by fashion illustrator Donald Robertson.
