Celebrating three generations in the beauty business, hair stylist Salvatore Minardi of Morris County says that, for women battling cancer, feeling beautiful is half the battle.

That’s why, for the past 10 years, the Salvatore Minardi Salon at 8 Park Avenue in Madison takes a special interest in fighting breast cancer. On Friday, March 27, the staff will donate 100 percent of the day’s proceeds to the American Cancer Society in honor of Salvatore’s sister, Mari Minardi Goldberg, who lost her battle in 2004. Over the last decade, as other local businesses continue to join the annual fund-raising event, the last Friday of March has become known as “Beauty Will Cure Day.” Participating organizations include Clarins USA and Wigs by Barbara.

To make a contribution, schedule an appointment for March 27 or walk in that day for any haircut, coloring or styling service. 100% of proceeds will be contributed to ACS. Or participate in an auction for a personal hair color, cut and design experience with Salvatore Minardi at the NYC Minardi Salon.

Companies can support the event by sponsoring any of the seven work stations at the salon during the benefit. Salvatore tells me that this is a special way for local businesses to pay tribute to a family member or friend who has been affected by cancer. Sponsorships range from $250 for a stylist’s station to $500 for Salvatore’s station. Sponsors are invited to decorate stations with photographs and other materials during the day of the benefit. Area businesses are also invited to contribute goods, services and prizes to the fundraiser.
