If you’re a handbag fan, get a handle on the Old Bags Luncheon, September 30 at Spring Brook Country Club (9 Spring Brook Road, Morristown). The annual fundraiser will feature silent and live auctions of donated new, like-new and vintage designer purses, evening clutches and totes. Bidding begins at 11 am and lunch starts at noon, followed by a presentation by designer Daniel Silverstein.

A graduate of the Fashion Institute of Technology and a standout on season two of NBC’s Fashion Star, Silverstein has since launched a label that melds his personal design aesthetic with innovative zero-waste design techniques. “Factories often pay hundreds of dollars to have their scraps removed and thrown into landfills,” says Silverstein. “Textile pollution is irresponsible, and this is why my collection will always be based on zero-waste principles.”

Proceeds from the Old Bags Luncheon will benefit Morris County-based Jersey Battered Women’s Services. Founded in 1976, JBWS is a nonprofit agency dedicated to the prevention of domestic violence. For more information about the luncheon, contact [email protected].
