Top Vocational High Schools in New Jersey

The Monmouth County Vocational District dominates our first ever list of vocational schools.

Our first-ever ranking of vocational schools is dominated by the Monmouth County Vocational District, which has the top three schools and five of the top 10. The number 1 finisher is High Technology High School, a pre-engineering career academy in Lincroft.

The test results for High Technology High’s students are mind-blowing. The average combined SAT score of 2,116 is the best of any public high school in the state, and its HSPA results are equally monumental.

High Technology High draws students from throughout Monmouth County. “We have some very affluent districts, and some not so affluent,” says Kevin Bals, the school’s incoming principal (he previously served as assistant principal at Holmdel High School). Bals attributes High Technology High’s success to the quality of education thoughout the county. “The sending schools are doing a great job,” says Bals.

To attend High Technology High, each student must pass a rigorous admission test. It’s worth the effort; 10 members of the latest graduating class of about 70 students are bound for Princeton University this fall.
While High Technology High reigns as number 1, the other Monmouth academies in the top 10, as well as top-10 schools in Middlesex, Ocean, Bergen and Hudson counties, had similarly striking results.

Monmouth is Best because...

Monmouth County Vocational School District is #1 in the state because it has an amazing roster of teachers from all across industry and academia. In addition to all of the stringent credentials required by the state of NJ, MCVSD teachers also bring a wealth of business and trade experience into their classrooms. Without this faculty, those rooms would be empty and there would be zero learning across the county. Bearing that in mind, now would probably be an appropriate time to offer those wonderful teachers a reasonable contract. They worked all last year without one and are slated to begin this school year at a frozen 2010 salary. Now, the state is requiring bigger contributions from all teachers, for their healthcare, so these master teachers, the BEST IN THE STATE, are making less than they did 2 years ago. The administrators have voted themselves raises, but nothing for all the teachers who have made MCVSD #1 in New Jersey. Disgraceful.

Pay the teacher for proformance....

Administrators YOU are the parent... reward the teacher that is doing a top job. YOU get your reward LAST after those teachers or teacher is rewarded.......THATS how it works best.....in a family setting, thats what happens or should happen. Thanks for your time Arlene Grandmother of 7....Never a teacher..... REMEMBER it’s about the STUDENT... WE MUST BEGIN TO REMEMBER THAT............

I did not see Academy School of Math, Science and Engineering, Morris County on the list.
