What poverty problem?

Wow. If people had questions about whether or not poverty can be closely tied to academic success, here is a great example. The A-B factor group is the most financially disadvantaged, while I-J would be most privileged. All 10 schools in the most well off group are at the very top of the list, while the poorest schools are at the bottom of the list, with the exception of the school that ranked #2 overall.

Elizabeth High School as Most Improved is a fraud

To understand why Elizabeth High School shot up in the rankings one has to look closely at the high schools at the bottom of the list. In the 2010 rankings Elizabeth High School consisted of {Upper Academy, Hamilton-303, Jefferson-322,Dwyer-306, Halsey-311 and Edison-321}. They renamed the Upper Academy to Elizabeth High School and spun off all the dumping grounds. Technically speaking, the Upper Academy deserves its ranking, but Elizabeth High School did not improve. In fact a good case can be made that for the majority of the high school aged children in Elizabeth the situation got much worse.
