The DePersios Open a Second Restaurant

October 30, 2009 11:20 PM ET | Eric Levin | Permanent Link

The DePersio family, who own and operate one of the most successful, and well reviewed, BYO restaurants in Essex County will be opening a second restaurant in January. They've been looking for the right location at the right price for three years, and they say they've now found it on Broad Street just north of Watchung Avenue in Bloomfield...

Unlike Fascino, the new restaurant, Bar Cara, will have a liquor license--it came with the existing restaurant they bought at the location.

The name Cara is an anagram for the first names of the family:

Cynthia (the mom and the pastry chef), Anthony (Sr., the pop and business advisor), Ryan (the son and chef) and Anthony (the other son, the general manager).

The theme of Bar Cara will be casual, traditional Italian food. It now becomes clear that the moderately priced  "Traditional Tuesdays" menu that has proved popular for Fascino during the recession was also the family's experiment with a new concept, which will be installed at Bar Cara.

Bar Cara

One of the worst dining experiences of my life, went on 2 Fridays in a row, nasty bartender named Kenny, real lousy attitude and seems like he thinks he is better that the customers. I went twice just to see if this idiot was for real, well he is, a real loser, with no personality. Some people have a bad day, we ll do, so i went back to see if it was a one off thing, no it was not. The food is overpriced and small portions. N.Y.C. prices in a small working class town, this will not work,we are not N.Y.C. nor Montclair. We expect respect and service. Skip this place.
