AC? Veni, Vidi, Vici

I hadn't been to Atlantic City in years; not since I was a middle-schooler visiting the Sail Expo for the day with my family. And despite growing up in Jersey, my husband had never made the trip. So when the opportunity arose to visit Caesars (and its Qua Baths and Spa), we jumped at the opportunity—and were not disappointed.

On average, we are not big gamblers (in that I hate gambling, and Chris just likes the really basic, no-complications slot machines), so taking the trip down the Parkway never really seemed necessary. But within an hour of exploring Caesars and the AC boardwalk, we were discussing when we could next make the trip.

That's not to say the casinos don't dominate the Atlantic City vibe—they definitely do. But with exquisite ocean views, several dozen high-end retail stores in the Pier Shops at Caesars, INCREDIBLE food (we hit Buddakan and Mia), and plenty of entertainment venues (including the plush new Circus Maximus Theater at Caesers), you don't need to make a single bet. We spent time relaxing in the Adirondack chairs nestled in sand on the enclosed pier that extends out over the Atlantic Ocean and hosts the Pier Shops, and we enjoyed a Ben Folds concert at the House of Blues in Showboat Atlantic City. We received oh-so-amazing spa treatments at Qua Baths and Spa (I enjoyed the Ayurvedic Journey body treatment and Optimum Hydration facial, and Chris had the Shorebreak sports massage, but the whole spa menu looked divine) and got to relax in the spa's three baths—one with cool water, one with tepid, and one with hot—as well as the steam room and sauna.

And that doesn't even include the games of Skee-Ball and long strolls we took on the boardwalk (the premature summer temperatures helped with that part of the experience) or the nearby (as in, within walking distance) outlets that we didn't have time to get to.

Yes, it's shameful that we didn't make the trip to AC earlier. But now that we know it's about more than craps tables and roulette, we'll be sure to be back. And I might even warm up to the slot machines. I mean, it's hard NOT to feel lucky while you're getting so completely pampered.

Nice spot. Agreed, AC is certainly not what it used to be. Despite some recent set-backs in casino-development, the town has undergone a wonderful transformation and makes a great get-away.
