Everybody Loves Raymond’s

Well, just about everybody in Montclair and environs. We're not talking about the TV series but about the wildly popular eatery on Church Street, known for its hearty, well-made comfort food and its hip interior, part Brassai-era Paris, part 1930's diner.

The news is the owners, Raymond Badach and Joanne Ricci, are opening a second Raymond's...in Ridgewood this summer.

Badach and Ricci are bringing back the same design team that created Raymond’s in Montclair about six years ago–their greatest hits include several Keith McNally restaurants in NYC, such as Balthazar.

The Ridgewood Raymond’s will be built in a space that formerly housed a bank (demolition is presently underway.) It will be a little larger than Raymond’s in Montclair, but will have a similar look, with some tweaks.

A real estate agent called Badach and Ricci almost two years ago and told them they had to see this space. The two were skeptical, feeling not ready to expand (though the thought had crossed their minds). But they took a look and, as Ricci says, "we knew we were in trouble." Translation: It was so good they had to take the leap.

The menu will be virtually the same as at Raymond’s I. If you want to know what that means, you can check out the menus HERE.
