Beer Bash Helps Rebuild—One Pint at a Time

Lovers of beer, beach and pizza—we assume New Jersey has more than a few—can help Shore communities rebuild after Hurricane Sandy this Sunday at a craft-beer bash and fundraiser in Point Pleasant Beach.

The Spot Pizza Grill will host RePour the Shore as a benefit for Shore2Recover—a local charity that benefits Ocean County families and businesses still struggling to get back on their feet in the wake of the storm. The event is sponsored by Spirits Unlimited and New Jersey Craft Beer, an organization that promotes beer events throughout the state.

From noon to 10 pm, RePour the Shore attendees will be able to enjoy a selection of craft beers on tap from New Jersey-based brewers, including Beach Haus, Carton, Kane, Ramstein, Flying Fish, Cricket Hill and River Horse.

Admission is free. Beer will be sold at $5 per pint, with $1 of each sale going to Shore2Recover. The sponsors also will contribute 10 percent of the day’s non-beer sales to the charity.

Mike Kivowitz, president of New Jersey Craft Beer, says people can anticipate a “relaxed, mellow” vibe at the event. Beer lovers are encouraged to come and go as they please—taking a break from the action to hit the beach or check out other Point Pleasant Beach attractions.

A handful of local bands will perform throughout the day at the Spot Pizza Grill, located at 1506 Richmond Avenue (Route 35). There also will be raffles and giveaways, and Kivowitz and a few members of his team will be on hand selling tee shirts (also for charity) and offering advice on food and beer pairings. People can order food from the restaurant’s menu.

Kivowitz says Sunday’s event will kick-off to a summer full of similar events that will raise awareness and generate money for relief efforts up and down the Shore.
