Best Feet Forward

February 19, 2008 06:48 AM ET | Doctor, Dianne | Permanent Link

Wendi Browne gives her clients Shiatsu, Swedish, and the other standard massages at her Hibiscus Therapy Center in Montclair  But this masseuse, who retired from the U.S. Army, has one interesting technique that sets her apart.

Wendy’s feet can make you feel as refreshed as her hands. She kneads, rolls, pushes and pats…with her feet. Click here to watch the video on www.njmyway.com.

This is also one of those rare massages where you keep your clothes on. But Wendy’s feet are bare. We watched as she treaded very lightly…then increased the pressure as she went along, to demonstrate the different places where feet make a difference.

The technique starts foot to foot, and proceeds, like any massage, along the legs, derriere, lower back, shoulders, and arms.

Soon, Wendy will have a special pulley that will suspend her in mid-air, allowing her to literally walk along her clients’ bodies without applying undue weight. Now, she sits or stands to the side, careful not to put her full weight against the client because she knows that her feet are much more powerful than her hands.

Wendy received specialized training to learn to do this, so we don’t recommend you ask your massage therapist to practice on you. In the wrong hands, there is a higher risk of injury, because of the extra weight and pressure.

But, that said, how does it feel to be underfoot? Wendy’s clients love playing human carpet. Give a call and let Wendy put her best feet forward… on you.
