Sally Miller, who has been called the Queen of Tween Fashions, is bringing style home to roost in her shop in Milltown.

Milltown?

The 1.6 square mile Middlesex County town, once home to the Michelin Tire Company, is known for its history of factories, work ethic, and small town pride. Not for its fashion sensibility. So why does one of the tri-state’s hottest designing women pick this borough for her first retail shop?

She lives here. Miller – single mom and mother of two tweens, found Milltown six years ago after she “got lost in East Brunswick.”  She bought a wonderful house and made a life for herself, so why not open the first Sally Miller store in her hometown?

Miller’s clothing is grown up chic for girls 7-14, avoiding the provocative styles that rush tweens into womanhood and reinforcing a comfortable, self-assured self-image.  Her young daughters, aged nine and ten, were her inspiration for the line.

The newly opened place, a small storefront in a century old building, has racks of Sally’s fall line — the  same items that are now sold in Neiman Marcus, Saks, and Nordstrom. They range from back-to-school to special occasion, with a sprinkling of casual play clothing as well.

In Milltown, Sally is a celebrity. The boutique opening was heralded by town officials and local residents, and made headlines in the local paper.

Like Bobbi Brown’s makeup boutique  in Montclair, or master chef David Burke’s dedication to his Rumson restaurant, Sally Miller hopes her shop will help bring fame and fortune to Milltown — not to mention a flock of tween fashionistas eager to take home the hottest styles in town.

Congratulations to Sally!

We carry Sally Miller's designs at our online store juvieshop.com and in our Juvie, our L.A. boutique. Her designs are terrific and I'm sure her shop will do great.
