A year ago, I hardly knew what blogging was. This week, I’m heading to California to immerse myself in a world of food, wine, and new media at the second annual American Wine Bloggers Conference.

Some 275 participants from all over North America are coming together for this three-day symposium, including citizen and industry wine bloggers, new media innovators, social networking experts, and wine industry professionals.

The event, organized by Open Wine Consortium and Zephyr Wine Adventures, will be held in Sonoma and Napa and features dinners, lunches, breakout sessions to discuss social media and industry topics, keynote speakers, grand tasting events, Napa winery tours, and vineyard walks in the Dry Creek Valley.

My plan was to go out as a quiet observer and come back with a head full of wine info, tasting notes, and highlights from the trip but after reading a handy guide for conference “newbies” posted by attendees Shana Ray and and Thea Dwelle, who knows—I might just come back as a  “twitter-holic.”

For more information on the conference including Thea and Shana’s helpful and entertaining guide check out: www.winebloggersconference.org.
