George's Place

If on the inside it looks like a diner, serves like a diner, charges like a diner and satisfies like a diner, but occupies just part of a plain brick building on a street corner in Cape May, it is a diner, and a darn good one at that.

It is George's Place in Cape May, where the chipped beef is made daily, the waffles are crisp on the outside and light on the inside, the sandwich wraps are stuffed like Santa's bag on Christmas Eve, and the Greek family who run it are friendly and on top of their game.

Mike's father, George, passed the ownership on to the two of them. Then Mike passed it on to John, his brother-in-law. Now Mike is back working at George's Place again.

BOTTOM PICTURE: Mike's homemade cheesecake, lighter and slightly less sweet than New York style, moister than Italian style. A great cheesecake. Reason to be glad Mike is back.
