In the Valley of the Alley

Some pictures I take I know why I like. Some I can only hazard a guess. This is one of those.

Actually, now that I look at the picture some more, I have a pretty good idea why I like it.

But would it have worked just as well….

…if the car had been a different color?

…if the garages had been at street level?

…if the blue wall on the left had been plain concrete and had not been full of dark cracks which matched the color of the garage wall?

…if more than one car had been parked in front of the garage?

…if the light had been sunny instead of muted?

—if the salmon-colored roof in the background didn’t match the color of the ledges on top of the garage?

Probably not, but hard to say. If any of those things had been different, there might have been no photograph there at all. But if there were, it would have been a very different one.
