If you’re cleaning out your linen closet this holiday season, or ditching the toys that your dog sniffs at (in a snooty way), Cape May’s Billmae Cottage is seeking animal-friendly donations for its annual Animal Giving Tree.
The Billmae Cottage is a B&D. Instead of bed and breakfast, this is an animal-friendly inn for bed and doggie. Every December, owners Bob and Linda Steenrod run a donation drive for the Woodstock Animal Foundation and Best Friends Animal Sanctuary. This year, they are looking for food, toys, treats, towels, blankets, rugs, and bleach that shelters can use for cleaning. They’ll accept monetary donations, too.
“Last year we saved several animals from euthanasia and helped several others with necessary special and hospital care,” say the Steenrods, who are champions of dog adoption as well. The pair played a big role in creating Cape May’s first dog park, which opened this year.
