Just this morning I was wondering how I would creatively announce New Jersey Monthly's support of the American Heart Association's Go Red For Women movement. Then these fabulous red lipstick samples arrived at my desk...

Go Red for Women
Support the American Heart Association by wearing red on February 1, and by sharing this blogpost's warning signs of heart attack and stroke.

New Jersey Monthly's staff will be wearing red on Friday, February 1 (National Wear Red Day) to support the AHA's nationwide effort, and you can see our staff photo here at njmonthly.com and on Facebook.com/njmonthly. We invite our readers and advertisers to support Go Red for Women, too!

If you want to win one of these gorgeous red lipsticks, courtesy of the brand new Mix.Match.Swap. of Manhattan, just send me a note at susanonstyle@njmonthly.com, and describe (very briefly) why you deserve to have flirty red lips for Valentine's Day. I will randomly select three entries and announce the lucky winners here. All four Mix.Match.Swap. colors are rich and luxurious, and each shade bears a sultry name: Pucker Up, Seduce Me and Guilty.

Let's all remember the real reason behind this lip-smacking giveaway: to support the American Heart Association and create awareness for the warning signs of heart attack or stroke:

- Uncomfortable pressure, squeezing, fullness or pain in the center of your chest that lasts more than a few minutes, or goes away and comes back

- Pain or discomfort in one or both arms, and/or the back, neck, jaw, stomach

- Shortness of breath with or without chest discomfort

- Extreme fatigue, breaking out in a cold sweat, feelings of nausea or light-headedness

Did you know that more women die of cardiovascular disease than from the next four causes of death combined, including all forms of cancer? But up to 80 percent of cardiac events in women could be prevented if women made the right choices for their hearts: improved diet, more exercise and abstinence from smoking.

Please join me in getting behind this important health inititative by sharing this blogpost.

Live smart and be well,

Susan
