Haircuts, Blowouts, Facials to Benefit American Cancer Society

I first met Salvatore Minardi at last spring's American Cancer Society gala. We sat at the same table and he told me about his Madison salon's annual fundraiser, Beauty Will Cure...

All proceeds from this year’s March 28 in-salon event, as well as contributions from partnering vendors, will help provide “More Birthdays” for those who benefit from the work of the American Cancer Society. So if you need a haircut, blowout, facial or other services, check it out.

This is the ninth year that Salvatore Minardi Salon in Madison (8 Park Avenue) will host the event in honor of Salvatore’s sister, Mari Minardi Goldberg, who lost her battle in 2004. In its sixth year of collaborating with the American Cancer Society, the salon invites other area salons and businesses to participate. Clarins USA and Wigs by Barbara also will be in attendance to offer services and education.

"After three generations in this industry, I’ve learned that beauty and hair are central to making a person feel confident and good about themselves. In the fight against cancer, feeling beautiful is half the battle," Salvatore told me.

All seven salon work stations will be available for sponsorship during the Beauty Will Cure event. It’s a unique way to honor and celebrate the life of a loved one who is or has been affected by cancer … or to advertise a local business. Each sponsored station can be customized with photos for the entire day. The price of sponsorship ranges from $100 to $500 for select stations.

Donations in the form of products and services to be raffled off through the day are also being accepted. Local businesses already committed to the cause include Adams Dental, Bronco’s Gym and The Rocking Horse Children’s Boutique.

To support this effort through sponsorship, donation or by making an appointment for the day, contact the salon at 973-443-4455.
