ARTHUR’S LANDING, WEEHAWKEN

The fall dishes at Arthur’s Landing, Pershing Circle at Port Imperial, Weehawken, are as gorgeous as the views. The restaurant faces the NYC skyline, and no matter what time of day or night you visit, you’re in for a visual and culinary treat. Some of executive chef Michael Haimowitz’s menu items are: roasted pear and blue cheese salad with frisée, red endive, candied pecans, and grainy mustard vinaigrette; seared day-boat scallops with roasted cauliflower and pancetta risotto; grilled blue nose bass with butternut-ginger purée, shimeji mushrooms, and baby spinach; maple-cured Berkshire pork chop with Brussels sprouts, bacon, and hazelnuts; and a dessert I dream about, sticky toffee pudding with spiced poached pear, warm toffee sauce, and whipped cream. A three-course pretheater menu is also available for $55 per guest, which includes valet parking and round-trip ferry service to Manhattan. For reservations call 201-867-0777.

ENO TERRA

“Eat local, drink global” is the philosophy at Eno Terra, 4484 Route 27, Kingston, as the majority of the ingredients used by executive chef Christopher Albrecht come from within a 50-mile radius of the restaurant. Taken from the Greek “Enotria,” meaning “land of vines,” Eno Terra has a 2,000-square-foot main dining room plus a salumi station, a private dining room, and a second-floor private room that features a fireplace and bar for up to 50 guests. While local food is featured, wines from around the world are offered, with an inventory ranging from 7,500 to 10,000 bottles. The Eno Terra name will also be honored with a private-label Cava made exclusively by Castellroig Terroir Wines, from just outside Barcelona.

For appetizers, along with a variety of bruschettas, grilled calamari, soups, salads, and pastas, there is a salumi plate, a cheese plate, and the best of both worlds, a sampling of Eno Terra’s artisanal salumi and formaggi. Entrées made on the wood-fired grill include: Griggstown Farm poussin; double-cut pork chop; East Coast salmon; Eno Terra sausages; and a 28-ounce T-bone steak. In addition to the à la carte menu, there are three “market tasting” menus: four-course $49, five-course $59, and seven-course signature $79.

Eno Terra is open for lunch Mondays through Fridays from 11:30 AM to 2:30 PM and for dinner daily. For reservations call 609-497-1777.
