SICKLES MARKET, LITTLE SILVER
Congratulations to Sickles Market, 1 Harrison Avenue, Little Silver, which is celebrating its 100th anniversary. Family owned since 1908, the market sells quality selections of produce, baked goods, gourmet groceries, imported and domestic artisanal cheeses, prepared foods, and cut flowers, and also has a garden center and gift department. While the business itself is 100 years old, the market sits on land bestowed in the 1670s to the Sickles family under the King’s Land Grant program. Several celebrations are planned for this year. In March, an exhibit at the market will chronicle the history of the store and its contributions to local farming, gardening, home cooking, and entertaining. In late spring and early fall, a series of collaborative events between the market and area food venues, including Thyme Square of Red Bank and David Burke Fromagerie of Rumson, will be held.
