NEW WINTER MENU
Executive chef Chris Bilyk from Theater Square Grill, 1 Center Street, Newark, is offering a new winter menu. Some dishes are: seared foie gras; peeky-toe crab salad with tuna sashimi; short rib tortellini; Berkshire pork shank with saffron risotto; and Colorado rack of lamb with sweet potato purée, roasted eggplant, and hedgehog mushrooms. TAKE YOUR DOG TO DINNER
On March 8, give your pup the star treatment at the St. Hubert’s Canine Cotillion, a charity gala for dogs and their people that will be held at Birchwood Manor, 111 North Jefferson Road, Whippany. This benefit for the St. Hubert’s animal shelters will feature a cocktail reception followed by a gourmet dinner for two-legged guests, who will sit alongside their canine companions. Pampered pooches will be treated to doggie delicacies at the Bone Appétit Dog Bar, and silent and live auctions will add to the festivities. 7 PM; $250, which includes admission for one dog. Watch for the March opening of the gastropub Salt, 109 Route 206, Byram, where Bradley Boyle, who previously owned Bula, Newton, will offer local and seasonal food in a casual pub setting. Anthony Mandeville will be chef de cuisine.

Chef Ed Coss of the Milford Oyster House, 92 Route 519 (Water Street), Milford, offers a chef's tasting dinner every few months. The following meal with French wine pairings will be served on March 11: seared foie gras with pear chutney and port wine reduction; lobster consommé with lobster quenelle; paillard of scallop and mango atop microgreens with radish sprouts and seasoned with creamy lemon dressing; stuffed breast of pheasant; and napoleons. $80 plus tax and gratuity.
