DINNER AND A SHOW

On August 29, a four-course dinner presented by executive chef Mitchell Altholz and featuring a performance by singers Michelle Oram and Jenny Peters will be held at the Manor, 111 Prospect Avenue, West Orange.

Dinner seatings are at 6, 6:15, and 6:30 PM; the show is at 9 PM; $74 plus tax and gratuity. Wait-list show-only seats may be available for $35. For reservations call 973-731-2360.

DINNER CLUB AT THE PLUCKEMIN INN, BEDMINSTER
For a different gourmet dining experience, consider the Friday Night Dinner Club at the Pluckemin Inn, 359 Route 202/206 and Pluckemin Way, Bedminster, which is held in the wine cellar. Each four-course tasting meal with wine will start with butler-passed hors d’oeuvres and a themed cocktail or a glass of champagne. On September 5, the theme will be Melon Mania; on September 19, It’s Not Too Late: Summer Wines; and on September 26, Pig…Head to Tail. Guests can book the entire table with a party of twelve or join the gathering as a single diner, a couple, or a larger group. 7:30 PM; $100 plus tax and gratuity. ARTHUR’S LANDING LABOR DAY CLAMBAKE & BBQ
On August 31, shorts and T-shirts are the dress code at the Labor Day Clambake & BBQ at Arthur’s Landing, Pershing Circle at Port Imperial, Weehawken. Listen or dance to live music while you feast on all-you-can-eat clams, oysters, shrimp, barbecued chicken, baby-back ribs, corn on the cob, lobster sliders, sausage and peppers, burgers, hot dogs, baked beans, coleslaw, and much more. Wash it all down with unlimited sangria, Blue Moon beer, and specialty cocktails flowing from ice sculptures. The restaurant will be transformed into a beach with a kiddie pool, beach chairs, pails, balls, and umbrellas. 1 to 9 PM; $85 prepaid includes tax, tip, and specialty drinks/beer; $95 at the door. IT’S APPLE TIME

On August 26, children from preschool to eight years old and their parents can participate in a Read & Pick event that will be held at Terhune Orchards, 330 Cold Soil Road, Princeton. The program combines picking a small container of apples and listening to a story about the fruit. 9:30 and 11 AM; $7 per child. BRUNCH AT DAVID BURKE FROMAGERIE
Breakfast and lunch creations such as buttermilk pancakes with blueberry maple syrup, classic eggs Benedict, ginger-rubbed Scottish salmon with ten-vegetable lo mein, apple galette with dulce de leche gelato and caramel sauce, Tahitian vanilla bean crème brûlée, and, of course, David Burke’s cheesecake lollipops are some of the items on the à la carte brunch menu served on Sundays from 10 AM to 3 PM at David Burke Fromagerie, 26 Ridge Road, Rumson. CHANGES AT RESTAURANT DAVID DRAKE
Restaurant David Drake, 1449 Irving Street, Rahway, has made some menu changes. An à la carte dinner menu is available in the dining rooms, bar, and garden, and a five-course tasting menu offers three choices for every course (the entire table does not have to order from the same menu). Peter Turso has been named the new chef de cuisine. For reservations call 732-388-6677.
