7/4: Restaurant Serenade, 6 Roosevelt Ave, Chatham, will celebrate the Fourth of July with a grilled picnic entrée (hamburgers, hot dogs, barbecued chicken, corn on the cob, corn bread, coleslaw, flag tarts) and dessert. 7/8: An ice cream social sponsored by the St. Hubert’s Animal Welfare Center, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the humane treatment of companion animals, will be held at the Madison Animal Shelter, 575 Woodland Ave, Madison. 6:30 to 8 PM, weather permitting; $5 per adult, $3 per child (ages ten and under), $2 per dog. 7/18: The Seventh Annual New Jersey State Ice Cream Festival will be held on Washington St, Toms River. 11:30 AM to 5 PM. Along with rides, street performers, crafters, vendors, food, and live entertainment there will be an ice cream tasting. Attendees can purchase tasting kits, for $5 in advance or $6 the day of the event, and then sample and vote on the ice cream entries in the People’s Choice category.
