Delighfully Delicious
I had the pleasure of finding this hidden gem last month with my wife and a few friends. Although I favor larger restaurants with more than 15 tables and a bar atmosphere I checked out Lillian’s Cafe in Audobon, NJ to enjoy a more quiet and personal setting. To my surprise, this restaurant has touched on a dining experience often missed by ’boutique’ establishments, Simplicity. The ambience sets a mood for enjoyable dining. Soft colors with the right lighting and table layout for every diner to view the outside sidewalk bustle. To mention the food and what this young talented chef is offering backed against decor is unjust. The chef is impeccable with her technique and served up perfect starters, entree’s and desserts. Rack of lamb is often a difficult dish to prepare. Not for this chef who understands her technique and tools to build me the perfect lamb. Never judge a dish by the name. Standard dishes on menus are there to be fillers and appease general diners wanting standard ’crab cakes’ and ’chicken alfredo’ but Lillian’s combines and creates a version of crab cake stackers that tickle the palate. They incorporate simple ingredients in miraculous executions of culinary delight. Thumbs up to Lillian’s and the young promising chef for challenging us to come back and take on another round of what will be a marvelous dining experience.
