Arugula, 373 Egg Harbor Rd, Sewell, has opened, serving Italian favorites with an innovative modern twist (856-589-0475).
Belzano, a pizzeria and casual Italian restaurant, is now open at 1060 Cedarbridge Ave, Brick (732-262-4000); BYO.
Blackbird, with Chef Alex Capasso, has moved from Collings Ave in Collingswood to 714 Haddon Ave (856-854-3444). It will be next door to Capasso’s casual eatery, West Side Gravy.
Kitchen Consigliere Cafe has opened at 8 Powell Ln, Collingswood (856-854-2156). This small Italian BYO features comfort food with items priced at $17 and under.
Lula’s Latin Cuisine, 20 E Madison Ave, Dumont (201-338-4980); BYO.
Martini 494 Bistro, a New American restaurant and bar, has opened at 494 Broad St, Newark (973-642-4900). The restaurant is open Mondays through Fridays from 7 AM to 9 PM. Free parking is available at the parking lot off Atlantic Street after 5 PM.
Patria Lounge & Restaurant, 169 W Main St, Rahway, has opened in the former El Bodegon location, offering Latin cuisine (732-943-7531).
Porto-Lounge, 286 1st St, Jersey City, has opened, offering tapas, Portuguese and Mediterranean cuisine, wines, sangrias, and liquors (201-420-9550).
Spice Zone, offering Indian and Chinese cuisine, has opened at 2050 Rt 27, Nixon Plaza, Edison (732-287-9901); BYO.
Steak 38, 515 Rt 38, Cherry Hill (856-665-4090).
Taphouse Grille, 344 French Hill Rd, Wayne (973-694-3490), has opened, featuring brick-oven pizza, comfort dishes, an extensive selection of beers, and a second-floor lounge.
Turning Point, a new breakfast, brunch, and lunch restaurant, is now open at 137 Central Ave, Westfield, serving from 8 AM to 3 PM. (908-264-8180).
Uber Burger has opened outside the Prudential Center at 9 Lafayette St, Newark (973-230-5656). Menu items include burgers, sandwiches, salads, fries, and ice cream.
CLOSINGS
January 2011
Campania in Fair Lawn has closed but may reopen in a few months under a new name with new owners. The restaurant was previously owned by Chef Joe Cernigilia, who died in September and was featured on Gordon Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares in 2007.
