Anthony’s Coal-Fired Pizza has opened at 984 Rt 17 N, Ramsey (201-818-2625). The restaurant features authentic 800-degree coal-burning ovens as well as salads, sandwiches, and Italian entrées.

Aqua Blue Kitchen and Cocktails has opened at 3410 Rt 37 E, Toms River (732-270-1180), offering New American cuisine.

Daryl Wine Bar and Restaurant, 302 George St, New Brunswick (732-253 7780), has reopened with executive chef Zod Arifai from Restaurant Blu and Next Door, both in Montclair, at the helm. There is also a wine shop attached to the restaurant, where a wide range of bottles can be sampled from the Enomatic system and purchased. The reinvented Daryl serves American cuisine with world influences, 56 wines by the glass, creative cocktails, and artisanal beers. Some menu items: roasted pumpkin salad with orange and watercress; tuna tartare with avocado and spicy ginger sauce; true buffalo mozzarella with eggplant and arugula; fettuccine with pulled short ribs, onions, and Gorgonzola; monkfish with spinach, wild mushrooms, and red wine; crispy chicken with black rice, peanuts, and coconut-chile broth; and steaks such as rib eye, NY strip, skirt, and filet mignon with a choice of bearnaise, au poivre, mushroom soy, or horseradish sauce. To better focus on the launch of Daryl, Arifai has shuttered Blu and Next Door for an anticipated eight-week period.
