SUNDAY, MARCH 3
Michael Hansen, a scientist for Consumers Union and an international expert on food safety, will be the keynote speaker at Slow Food Northern New Jerseys’ annual meeting to speak on the dangers of genetically modified food. This event will be held at the DeHart Community Center, 120 Burnett Ave, Maplewood. There will also be a local-food tasting, featuring GMO-free items, including artisanal cheese, breads, eggs, vegetable salads, baked goods, and more. 1 to 3:30 PM; $8 for members of Slow Food; $10 for non-members. A Philippe Chin and Friends dinner will be held at the James Beard House, 167 West 12th St, New York. The following NJ chefs will be in attendance: Philippe Chin, Philippe Chin French-Asian Bistro and Deck Bar, Somers Point and Keith Mitchell, Nero’s Tuscan Steakhouse at Caesar’s, Atlantic City.
