Read about the star chefs that will be at the Savor Borgata Weekend in Atlantic City and chef Jesse Jones, who will be taking over the kitchen for one night at Dre’s in Newton.

SAVOR BORGATA WEEKEND WITH STAR CHEFS
Foodie Alert: The Borgata Hotel Casino and Spa, One Borgata Way, Atlantic City will feature a Savor Borgata Weekend on Friday, November 7 and Saturday November 8, with the following events and chefs in attendance:

Street Eats food festival on Saturday, November 8, will feature more than 20 different food stations. All of Borgata’s chef/partners—including Wolfgang Puck (Wolfgang Puck American Grille), Bobby Flay (Bobby Flay Steak), Geoffrey Zakarian (The Water Club Hotel), Michael Schulson (Izakaya), Stephen Kalt (Fornelletto Cucina & Wine Bar), and restaurateurs Greg and Marc Sherry (Old Homestead Steak House)—will be present. Craft beers by Leinenkugel and a variety of wines from across the country will be available. Mike Jerrick (FOX29 Good Day Philadelphia co-host) will host kitchen demonstrations by Wolfgang Puck and Bobby Flay.

In addition to Street Eats, Savor will feature 15 unique events on Friday and Saturday—including intimate dinners, lunches, classes, demonstrations, and tastings. Information at the Borgata website.

And there’s more. Savor Borgata Restaurant Week will be held Sunday, November 2 through Friday, November 7th, offering prix-fixe menus starting from $39 at each of Borgata’s fine-dining restaurants.

Tickets for Savor Borgata Presents Street Eats are $89. Guests looking for a more intimate Street Eats experience may purchase VIP tickets at $129, which allows for early admission. Savor Borgata hotel packages are also available for Saturday, November 8. Starting from $510, the package includes an overnight stay in a Classic Room and two tickets to Street Eats. Tickets for all Savor Borgata Weekend events may be purchased at the Borgata website or by calling 1-866-900-4TIX (4849).

CHEF JESSE JONES AT DRE’S, NEWTON

On Sunday, November 16, Chef Jesse Jones, known for his Southern Cooking with a Country French twist, will be taking over the kitchen at Dre’s, 188 Spring St, Newton, and serving crab stew, pulled-pork strudel, chicken, pastries, and molasses cake with maple ice cream; $50. EXECUTIVE CHEF HANK BARRETT
Hank Barrett, a graduate of the Philadelphia Restaurant School, is the executive chef at Sangria Restaurant and Bar, 1033 MacArthur Boulevard, Mahwah (201-962-3310). He has previously worked at River Vale Country Club and Maize in Newark.

CHEF JOEY TRANI
Joey Trani is chef/owner of Al Dente Italian Restaurant, 381 Triangle Road, Hillsborough (908-359-0311); BYO. Chef Trani came to America in November of 2013 from Ischia, an island off the coast of Naples. In May of 2013 he took over Zio’s Trattoria, a pizzeria in Hillsborough and after 6 months and careful consideration, he decided to close Zio’s and reopen as a brand new Italian restaurant called Al Dente.

JUDE VOLCY

Haitian born Jude Volcy is the executive chef owner of V-Cuisine , featuring Cajun/Creole cuisine, located at 129 First Ave, Elizabeth (908-820-8773); BYO.
