FATHER’S DAY SUGGESTIONS

Alba Vineyard Father’s Day Festival

A Father’s Day Festival will be held at Alba Vineyard, 269 Rt 627, Village of Finesville, Milford, which will feature wine tastings, a cellar tour, lunch (available to purchase), live music and more. Noon to 5 PM; $10 for adults, $5 for ages 13 to 20, and children under 12 are free. Parking is complimentary. Reservations are not required. Show dad he is special on Father’s Day by taking him to the brunch buffet at The Bernards Inn, 27 Mine Brook Road, Bernardsville. Some menu items include salads, fruits, omelets, pasta, hot entrees, carving stations and desserts. 9:30 AM to 2:30 PM. The regular a la carte dinner menu will be served beginning at 5 PM. A Father’s Day BBQ will be held in The Chef’s Garden at the Grand Cascades Lodge, Crystal Springs Resort, Hamburg. Along with the BBQ menu, there will be unlimited beer, a chef demonstration by executive chef John Greeley and special guest Top Chef winner Kevin Sbraga, a beer tasting with Newburgh Brewing Company and live entertainment. Haven Restaurant and Bar, 2 Main St (for GPS, put 45 River Road), Edgewater Harbor, Edgewater (201-943-1900) with gorgeous views of NYC, is serving brunch and lunch from 11 AM and dinner from 5 PM on Father’s Day.

The Hearthstone Grill and Small Batch Brewery, 306 Gatzmer Ave, Jamesburg, will feature cut to size NY strips, boneless rib-eyes and filet mignon on Father’s Day. Servers will bring a loin to the table, where guests choose the exact size steak they want. The meat will be cut and weighed in front of them, then cooked to order over an open, oak fire. 11:30 AM to 9:30 PM. Reservations: 732-605-1800.

Morton’s The Steakhouse, Riverside Square Mall, One Riverside Square, Hackensack, is offering a three course Father’s Day menu, which includes choice of salad, choice of entrée that comes with a vegetable or potato, and choice of dessert for $59. Reservations: 201-487-1303.

Treat dad to a juicy porterhouse steak and ice cold beer at Satis Bistro, 212 Washington St, Jersey City. Large tables are welcome. Reservations: 201-435-5151.

In addition to its a la carte menu, the Strip House Restaurant, Westminster Hotel, 550 W Mount Pleasant Ave, Livingston, has added the following items to the menu for Father’s Day: peppercorn shrimp; double-cut, bone-in pork chop; and for dessert a macaroon “burger” made with coconut, caramel, and dark chocolate ice cream. COOKING DEMONSTRATION and BOOK SIGNING
Celebrity chef, James Beard award-winner and Oprah’s personal chef for 10 years, Art Smith, will hold a cooking demonstration to benefit at-risk and homeless Jewish and Arab youth in Israel at Modiani Kitchen Showroom, 46 South Dean St, Englewood. A proponent of “culinary diplomacy,” chef Art Smith participated in a U.S. State Department global diplomacy program called Chefs for Peace. 7 to 9:30 PM; $100. WINE AND CHEESE TASTING FOR CHARITY

ESCAPE TO GREECE DINNER

Bryan Gregg, chef/owner of Escape at 345 Bloomfield Ave, Montclair, will welcome chef Peter Minaki to Escape to host a four-course, Escape to Greece dinner. The following menu will be presented:

Trigona with shrimp butter

Chickpea and sea asparagus salad with pickled fennel, grilled octopus

Trahana with mushroom "Kokkinsto," sweetbread

Braised-lamb shoulder with smoked-eggplant puree

Ekmek Kataifi, toasted almonds and coconut curls

Minaki is the creator of the Kalofagas food blog and a frequent contributor to Greece’s Free Press Gastronomy website. He hosts and cooks for the Kalofagas Greek Supper Club, teaches cooking classes and provides catering services. DISHCRAWL

Dishcrawl, which offers food events in 250 cities where attendees walk from restaurant to restaurant to tast a trio of different dishes at each place, will hold a dish crawl in the New Brunswick area.
