JOSEPH CUCCIA CATERING AND 17 SUMMER, LODI
Joseph Cuccia, owner/chef of Joseph Cuccia Catering and 17 Summer, 17 Summer St, Lodi has announced that they have started a quick service series called “What’s In the Box?”. Starting September 17, from 6 to 10 PM, with a menu changing monthly, they will serve their favorite seasonal comfort food. No Reservations. No Servers. The first What’s In the Box? will be a homemade porchetta sandwich with French fries, and a drink for $15. Check their Facebook page for each month’s menu or call 973-928-4780 for information and/or dinner reservations for the next Chefs Table dinner, which will be held on Friday, September 19 and Saturday September 20 at 7:30; BYO.

OTHER OPENINGS

Anemos, a Greek restaurant, has opened at 333 Rt 9 S, Manalapan Township (732-414 6590).

Depot Square Bar & Restaurant, previously Erie Saloon, has opened at 25 Depot Square, Montclair (973-931-4389).

Flaming Grill & Supreme Buffet, a buffet restaurant with Chinese, Japanese and American options has opened at 111 Wagaraw Road, Hawthorne. (201-438-1115).

Iron Street Grill, a casual restaurant offering breakfast, lunch, dinner and Sunday brunch has opened at The Streets of Chester Shopping Center, 270 Rt 206 S, Chester (908-955-7882); BYO. The restaurant is open Monday throught Friday 7 AM to 7 PM; Saturday 7 AM to 4 PM; and Sunday 10 AM to 2 PM.

Mulberry House, specializing in tea service, lunch, brunch and dinner, has opened 415 Westfield Ave, Westfield (908-233-3562); BYO. The restaurant is open Tuesday through Saturday, 11 AM and Sunday from 10 AM. Dinner is served Wednesday through Sunday starting at 5 PM.

Paragon Tap & Table, a gastropub has opened at 77 Central Ave, Clark (973-891-1776). The restaurant is headed by chef Eric LeVine who is also the executive chef at Morris Tap & Grill in Randolph. Along with craft beers and cocktails, menu items include burgers pastas, meats and fish as well as gluten free selections. There will also be a smaller dining room featuring five or seven course prix fixe menus. Craft beers and cocktails will also be served.

Patrizia’s of Brooklyn offering traditional Neapolitan cuisine and pizza, has opened at 28 Broad St, Red Bank (732-741-5555).

Smashburger, 3321 Route 1 S, Lawrenceville (609- 580-1846).

Shanghai Dumpling House, 1581 Rt 27, Edison (732-543-1771).

Teaneck Doghouse, a Kosher sports bar with 28 TVs, has opened at 1415 Palisade Ave in Teaneck (201-530-7733). The kosher non-dairy menu includes burgers, BBQ brisket, meatball subs, burgers, and chicken wings and more. Kosher spirits, wine and beer will also be available.

Tisha’s Main Ingredient, has opened at 301 Center Ave, Westwood, offering soups, salads, sandwiches, soufflés, and dinner entrees; 201 497-8700. The restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner; BYO.

BURG UPDATE

BURG: Jersey Burgers and Taps from Chef Siversen and Maritime Parc co-owner Marc Haskell has moved its opening date to Spring 2015. The casual eatery, which will feature hand-crafted burgers, salads and mini-doughnuts with wine and locally sourced craft beer on tap, will be located in the newly revitalized Military Park in downtown Newark.

CLOSINGS

Ana Beal’s, Westfield

Azcubar Cuban Cuisine Jersey City has closed. Their web page states: “Due to irreparable disputes with our landlord, we have been forced, after 9 years, to close our doors in Jersey City. We will be relocating (after a much needed vacation)–check back for details.”

Bogey’s, Whippany

Culinariane, Montclair will close tomorrow September 12. Chef/owners Ariane & Michael Duarte, will be opening a new casual establishment Ariane Kitchen + Bar in Verona in October with a menu ranging from food bar snacks, small and large plates, burgers, salads, steaks and chicken dishes.
