100 Years: Always New exhibition surveys the Museum's evolution from two galleries at the top of the Newark Free Public Library to becoming the largest art institution in the state, occupying an eight-building campus. Founded at the height of Newark’s prosperity, the Museum survived and even thrived in the difficult decades of the mid-twentieth century, and is a cornerstone of Newark’s subsequent renaissance. Today, its exceptional, world-wide collections are mirrored by an historic commitment to education and visitor access. Hundreds of archival photographs were researched to provide an overview of the buildings, the exhibitions, the events and the people that have shaped the course of the Newark Museum over the last 100 years.
