Black River Barn

Style: Big ol’ barn, with vaulted ceilings, cowboy paraphernalia, a rousing sports bar, and lakefront outdoor seating.

Don’t Miss: Toasted almond brie with raspberry melba, fresh fruit, and flatbread ($10.99). Julienned fried zucchini straws, known as the Haystack, with horseradish dipping sauce ($5.49). Spicy New Jersey gumbo with fresh vegetables, andouille sausage, and chicken ($3.99). Pizzas from the hand-built wood-burning oven, including Jersey Johnnie’s (sautéed spinach, roasted peppers, prosciutto, mushroom, plum tomatoes, fresh garlic, mozzarella, and shaved provolone, $12.99). Heavier fare includes horseradish-crusted beef tenderloin with a rich port-wine sauce ($24.99). Leave room for Kentucky Derby pie, with chocolate chips, toasted pecans, and chocolate chip cookie dough, served with vanilla ice cream ($4.99).

Heads Up: The Barn is the place to be for local sports games, so get to the bar early if you want a seat for the next Subway Series or Giants game. And be prepared for noise.
The Scoop: A dozen or so flat-screen televisions are just the start of the entertainment. Karaoke every Tuesday night, an open mic every Wednesday, and live bands on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays keep the place hoppin’ like a rodeo from 10 pm to 2 am.
