BOULEVARD CLAMS
2006 Long Beach Boulevard

609-494-9494

Hours: Open daily. Summer hours, 11 am until close (usually 7 or 8 pm, depending on the crowd.)

Price: $$

Style: Come sandy, straight from the beach and claim one of the outdoor picnic tables, or head inside for the air conditioning. Either way, you’ll be greeted by friendly servers and a full menu of fresh-caught local clams and much more.

Don’t Miss: The seafood, naturally. Start with a dozen steamed littlenecks ($9.99), succulent local clams served with broth and butter. But who are we kidding? This is not a place to shy away from fried food: The fried clam strips ($7.60) or the calamari ($9.99) are great starters to share. The fried flounder sandwich ($10.99) is tasty, as is the oyster po’ boy ($14.99), fresh oysters fried and served on a semolina roll with a remoulade sauce. Entrées include Maryland-style crab cakes ($21.99), two lump crab cakes served fried or broiled; grilled swordfish steak ($23.99), fresh-caught from Barnegat Light, broiled and served with a mild, creamy horseradish sauce, or tuna teriyaki ($23.99); and sushi quality yellowfin tuna steak marinated and grilled. All entrées are served with cole slaw and french fries. A children’s menu for non-seafood eaters includes mac and cheese ($5.99) and chicken tenders ($8.25). Be sure to also check out the daily blackboard specials.

Heads Up: Boulevard’s seafood market offers great take-out options. The fried party for six ($99.89) includes shrimp, scallops, flounder, clam strips and a bucket of french fries. The lobster bake for four ($109.99) features a seafood extravaganza of lobster, mussels, littlenecks and corn on the co. Or buy fresh and cook it at home.

The Scoop: This quintessential summer stop for fresh seafood is celebrating its 35th season this year. The BYO establishment has plenty of parking in its off-street lot, easily accommodating summer crowds.
